Our Story
The Riehle farm, around 1909
Stonybrook Canyon Farm
Palomares Road is divided into two sections: the northern half is Palomares Canyon and the southern half is Stonybrook Canyon. We first acquired the old Riehle apple farm property in 2013, located in the Stonybrook Canyon section, and resurrected many of the 100 year old fruit trees. The Riehle family grew apples and other produce on this property, starting in 1909. The Riehle family emigrated from Italy, and we were told by their descendants that the old mulberry tree and chestnut trees were brought from Italy by them. We are certain that our primary mulberry tree is easily 100 years old.
In 2019, we purchased the Manter property which is located in the Palomares Canyon section. The Manter family grew their Royal Anne cherries on this property, and their Blenheim apricots in Hayward (on land that is now the Hayward Airport). The Manter property is the last remaining farm of the original early-20th Century farms in Alameda County that is still under private ownership and still in operation.

The Farmers
This picture was taken sometime in the early 1960s, we think, which was when the cherry trees were nearing the end of their commercial viability. We now host our summer farm stand in this location.
